How can technology and data create a streamlined experience to help people and businesses across Scotland get access to training, guidance, support and approval for the licences they need, starting with tobacco products?

ePass

The solution

ePass provides a modern, secure, and scalable approach to digital licencing — allowing admins to easily customise every part of the approval process:

  • Configuration: adjusting application requirements and user flows to comply with changing legislation.

  • Application: ensuring prospective licensees receive guidance and support.

  • Enforcement: supporting officers so they can plan, track, and report on compliance.

With access to mapping functionality and historical records, ePass creates meaningful data that empowers decision-making and facilitates continuous engagement and education once a licence is granted.

The Opportunity

Licencing bodies within the public and private sectors struggle to find an adaptable solution to address requirements, such as e-learning and identity checks. ePass has the opportunity to address the 448 licences and registrations issued by UK governments, secondly targeting the private sectors for digital identity, construction, and transportation.

Next Steps

The Tobacco and Vaping Register will launch in late 2024. By mid 2025, Zudu will onboard registers from the other UK nations, then expand to private sector use. By 2026, they will embark on fundraising for Series A and beyond to achieve target revenue milestones.

The Team

The team behind ePass are senior-level experts in full-service software development and hold industry-standard qualifications and certifications in security, UX/UI design, quality, and accessibility. Zudu, have been designing and engineering software for the Scottish Government, NHS, and other public services for over a decade.
